SANYO DENKI Develops SANUPS A11K-Li Online UPS with Li-ion Batteries With Wide Operating Temperature Range

SANYO DENKI has launched the SANUPS A11K-Li double conversion online UPS with lithium-ion batteries with a wide operating temperature range. Now UL-certified versions are available for the U.S. Market.
It is available in output capacities of 1.0kVA and 1.5kVA. Suitable applications include surveillance cameras, network equipment, and gas supply facilities that require wide operating temperatures in harsh conditions.

Features
1. Wide Operating Temperature Range
The operating temperature range is from -20 to +55°C, which is the widest in the industry.(2)
This UPS can be used with confidence even in harsh cold or hot environments.
2. Space Saving
The heights of the models are 2U (86 mm).
They are smaller than the UPSs with lead-acid batteries, saving rack space.
3. Long Service Life
This UPS uses lithium-ion batteries, and the expected battery life is approximately twice as long as our conventional UPS(1) that uses lead-acid batteries.
It can operate for 10 years without battery replacement,(2) reducing the maintenance work and costs.
4. Ease of Maintenance
An inverter module is removable from the front of a UPS unit for easy maintenance.
5. High Reliability
Dual protection is provided by UPS and BMS:
1. Protection by BMS (Battery Management System)
It monitors cell voltage, battery current, and cell temperature. If it detects overcharging, overcurrent, or excessive temperature rise, it will disconnect the lithium-ion batteries from the BMS charging circuit for protection.
2. Protection by UPS
The UPS monitors the charger's output voltage and intake air temperature. If these values rise beyond safe levels, the UPS stops the charger to protect the battery. In case of a short circuit, a fuse isolates the battery to safeguard the wiring.

(2) Assuming 10 power outages per year and 30°C ambient temperature.
